Sounds like a classic Sherlock Holmes radio drama! Ronald Howard as Holmes? Gotta give it a listen! I've been on such a mystery kick lately, especially
...
when I need a break from grinding levels in Path of Exile 2. There's something so immersive about these old radio dramas that lets you visualize the fog-filled London streets in your mind. I usually put on Chill Guy Clicker in another tab while listening - something about the combination of casual clicking and intense mystery solving really helps me unwind after a long day. Looks like a fun way to spend an afternoon! Has anyone listened to the Basil Rathbone versions for comparison? I'm curious which actor captured Holmes better.

The 1954–1955 "Sherlock Holmes" series starring Ronald Howard has some wonderful episodes, in my opinion. A strong mystery, amusingly bizarre components,

and endearing character moments are all expertly blended into a half-hour show when the series is at its best. One of its advantages is that, even with a brief running length, it manages to savor exquisitely crafted character moments between Holmes and Watson in nearly every episode. https://driftboss.io/

wife (Mrs. Howe from Gilligan's Island), Russian ballerina, and director of her St. Petersburg Royal ballet--Serge Smernoff who hams it up even more than Dr. Watson. Standard themes of espionage, illicit affairs, case of mistaken identity (of hats and coats), make for a meaty plot with a nice twist at the end. A rare chance to hear Lestrade say his own name proving that Basil Rathbone may have been in error all these years. Only a better theme song would have made this entertaining series better-maybe a different composer using a different four notes.

this site introduced me to Ronald Howard as Sherlock Holmes and I shall be for ever grateful. After watching the eight episodes available here, I treated
...
myself to all 37 episodes made on a DVD collection!!
The TV series was never shown in the UK until a few years ago when a satellite channel called Bonanza continually repeated 8 episodes on a daily basis before going bust, They have recently reappeared as the Young@heart channel, repeating the same 8 episodes.
Howard is excellent as Holmes and his Dr Watson is almost as funny as Nigel Bruce was with Basil Rathbone. Archie Duncan (Little John from the 50s British Robin Hood TV series) plays a brilliant, if somewhat grumpy, Inspector Lestrade. The story lines are a little stilted and very dated but all in all, these shows are television history at its best.
Five Stars!!!!!
